An invitation to pray
We believe that God hears and answers our prayers. If you would let us know your prayer requests, we will also be pleased to pray for you and with you.
Jesus told a story to his disciples to illustrate the need for them to pray consistently and never quit.
He said ‘there was once a judge in a certain city who never gave God a thought and cared nothing for the people in that city. A widow in the city came to him repeatedly appealing for justice against someone who had harmed her; saying “My rights are being violated, protect me”. The judge never gave her the time of day. But after this went on and on he said to himself “I care nothing for either God nor man. But because this widow won’t quit badgering me, I’d better do something and see that she gets justice, otherwise I am going to end up beaten black and blue by her pounding”.
Then the Master said “Do you hear what that judge, corrupt as he was, was saying? So what makes you think God won’t step in and work justice for his chosen people, who continue to cry out for help day and night? Won’t he stick up for them? I assure you he will. He will not drag his feet. But how much of that kind of persistent faith will the Son of Man find on earth when he returns?’
Please send details of your prayer requests to Rev. Alasdair Macleod at info@busheybaptist.org.uk
Regular prayer meetings are also held at different times in the Church and in Church member homes.Once in a while we meet to raise prayers up to God for specific needs.
Sunday prayer meeting
Immediately prior to each service there is a prayer meeting — at 10.00am and again at 5.45pm — it is open to all.
First Thursday prayer time
An opportunity on the first Thursday each month for the whole church to come together for prayer.
Daytime prayer groups
There are several daytime prayer groups meeting in member's houses. Items for prayer are raised, discussed and noted and looked back over for encouragement and personal faith building. Prayer can be spoken or silent and duration range from a short period of time each week (fifteen minutes or so) to longer sessions, depending on the time available. A phone network is also available to share urgent needs, providing both personal and spiritual uplift.
